Experimental pinhole camera - making of process

For this lesson/task we were requested to experiment & create a pinhole photo spread over 2 to 3 months of the sun rising, where by the end of the experiment there should be a sort of streak going across the photographic paper in which we use, but it is ok if we do not get a streak of some sorts, as all in all it is just an experimentation.

For this process, we could not use a simple shoe box pinhole camera like we would usually do, as that would be very difficult to use as it would probably blow over, and would not stay in the same position etc. so we had to create our own minnature pinhole camera by using a can or drink can etc. where by the end we can use cable ties to tie it to a draining pipe on our houses or anywhere where we know the sun rises so we can try and make the experimentation successful.

For the process of making the pinhole camera, in my opinion i feel, everyone found a little confusing or difficult in some fashion. obviously the first step was getting the can we needed, but i'm not counting that as the firsts step. The official first step on the other hand was we had to get a piece of felt and cut out 3 circles of 3 different widths - 35mm, 60mm & 70mm, where these pieces of felt will be used as the base inside the can and at the top of the can, so basically one either side of the the photographic paper that will be placed into the can. The base piece of felt being stuck down via using a glue gun, but ill come to that step later. Next step is is to repeat the previous step but this time using card in which we was given , also using the same measurements.

For the next step, after that of course, comes the task of cutting the top of the can off, for this of course we only used the only suitable option by using a cap opener, because of course.

- Then use a 0.3mm needle, to pierce the middle of your can - this is because this will be your hole you will use to expose your photographic paper.

- Now take your 60mm card and felt, 70mm felt and 35mm card, because for this you have to stick the 35mm card to the 60mm felt as this will be at the base of your pinhole camera, then stick your 60mm card to your 70mm piece of felt, as this will be the top part of your can.

- Then, as i previously mentioned, stick the 35mm/60mm felt/card to the bottom of the inside of your pinhole camera, then insert your piece of photographic paper

- Your next step is tuck your pice of felt into the top of the can, secluding the photographic paper, then place the 60mm/70mm card on the top.

- Then use black tape and wrap it/cover the top of the can
